Response to What does a 1st A.D. do?

A 1st A.D. is short for Assistant Director. Their duties include
responsibilities that free the director from logistics such as
getting the cast and crew organized, calling slate ( roll camera,
speed, etc.), to organizing the elements to start the shoot.
Basically, the director can concentrate on the creative aspects of
making the movie. The AD takes the director's other responsibilities
besides trhe artistics.
