Wage Arrestment

Can someone please explain what happens when you get your wages arrested. I have had an arrestement served on my wages for about 10 months now and I was wondering if the amount that I was shown at the start will remain constant and as each payment is made I will see the amount coming down. Or will I get interest added on to this amount I will end up paying it for a lot longer than I anticpate. Please help as I am getting worried that I will never get away from this if interest can be added on.(I am in Scotland. I thought I would add that just incase the law is different)
