Who do I SARN?

Sorry if this appears thick but it is all very new to me! I need to SARN someone because AIC are chasing money which I owed National Home Loans about 10 years ago and I have no idea how they came up with the figure in question. I sent a letter of SARN (as on this website)to the correspondant named at AIC, have I done this right? Should I just hold tight now until we hear from them again? Thanks for any advice and apologies for no name or details but I've been getting paranoid since reading up on-line about these cases!!
