If they give up - Leeds & Holbeck

Leeds & Holbeck are trying to get £4,500 in a mortgage shortfall but after following all the advise on the site i am getting no response from them. If they give up or have given up, how do i get to move on in life as i am considering marriage and the possibility of a new life, but will i have the ability to get the default off? and then have a good credit rating? and can they come after me again?
