Response to infa-red DV

from Matthew Wadiak (red_2001@hotmail.com)
I have had the same question about standard DV cameras, and allthouth I am not sure if the XL1 is IR sensative, (does the CCD produce charge from IR light) a good way to find out is to go into a 0 lux setting, like a dark closet, and point a remote control at the camera to see if you can see the light sorce emmitted by the remotes IR light stream, (because romotes work with IR light) if this works you can light scenes for nightshots with an IR floodlight, there are a number of these available that are undectable to the human eye. One of them can be found on a website called Seaview.com. If your test fails however, there are several cameras made by Sony and JVC which both have "night shot" they are IR sensative and even have little inferred lights built into the cameras. I hope this has helped you.
