sound problems with JVC GR-DVM70

Has anyone out there had problems with the sound cutting in and out on their JVC cybercam? If so, I'd love to know how you solved the problem. When I plug in headphones to test the mike, the throughput sounds fine, but the recorded sound is awful. I assume this is a software/settings problem, but I've found no info address the problem. Thanks in advance.
