house repo

we recently got into financial trouble and could not afford to keep up re-payments on our mortgage we went to see the building society and were told to not have a phone and not have our tv on and cut down on our food i could not believe this as we have two children we are now 4mths in arrears and have moved out of the house into a rented one where do we go from here???
