CANON GL1 (NTSC) or XM1 (PAL)

I know that shooting in PAL is better for film transfers, but is it worth the trade offs to go for the XM1? Is it true he XM1 cannot import analog or DV signals like the GL1 can? The lens is also better on the GL1. Would shooting in PAL be that much better than NTSC? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Michael
