burnt 96 turbo wiring harness

My genius brother installed a new alternator and forgot that little insulator on the back and fried the adjacent harness. Does anyone have a source for a used harness for a 78 96 turbo? There several 900s in a local salvage yard here in Peoria--can a harness from one of these be used with slight modification?? Any thoughts or advice appreciated.
