repossession

I have recently got divorce and my husband(ex) won`t pay any mortage, we have two children aged 1&3 years, I work part time and I am finding it very hard too keep paying the mortage and keep two children . I have been offered a council house with benifits payed. I am worry what will happen if I leave the house, I have been paying all the mortage for the last 5 years , there is 25 thousand left too pay the house is valued at 26 thousand .I need help the lender won`t help
