PREMIERE 5.1 WINDOW SIZE PROBLEMS

I am unable to make my windows in Premiere larder than 176xwhatever. They must be kept very small or my playback breaks up and losses sync. Adobe says that DV clips cannot be played back any larger. This sounds like bullshit to me, since they are essentially just quicktime files. Do I need a special video playback card for my Mac 604. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
