Response to A price for the K2500X in USA?

from Carl Erhorn (cerhorn@hysoft.com)
Hi, Pedram. The price is very close to that here in the US also. You should contact one of Kurzweil's retailers to get an exact quote, and there are some special sales going on from time to time which might reduce the cost.

Try www.sweetwater.com, who does a large mail-order business. There is also Halls Piano in New Orleans, and they are well thought of by Kurzweil folks. But if the price is fairly close to local sources, I would think about shipping costs from the US, which I think would be high, and the chance of damage during shipping.

If you buy locally, those problems are handled by the local stores.

The major difference between the K2500X and 2500XS is the XS version has the sampling option installed. If you intend to record your own samples, you need the XS version. But creating your own samples is not trivial, and I have found it to be fairly tedious to do. If it's a trade-off between that or the option proms, buy the options. The piano is vastly better than the normal internal sounds, and if you need the orchestral instruments, the proms again are very good.

Also, check out the KDFX option. It adds a lot of new, very high quality effects to the K2500, and would be especially useful in studio situations.

Regards, --Carl
